And I Found Myself, Take 2 This song was originally recorded in March, with minimal instrumentation. The core was an acoustic guitar and hi-hat, with a couple electric guitar and drum machine parts. I wasn’t completely satisfied with the vocals, and I wanted to bring the song up to par with my latest revisions, so today I present the alternate take.
The first half of the verse retains the original acoustic guitar, but the hi-hat is replaced with a shaker. The second half of the verse has a synthesizer pad sound in place of the original electric guitar swell, and the original drum kit is replaced with a conga rhythm. The chorus retains a ride cymbal, but there’s an additional synthesizer lead sound that I play in a manual arpeggio. The lead guitar and vocals are the same, but with slightly different effects than the original. The lead at the end is different, but then, I almost always use an improvised lead, influenced by how I feel about the music at the time.
As for the lyrics, they’re about the lost and lonely moments after a relationship ends, and rediscovering yourself when a new one begins.
