Lead Me On, Take Two Two years ago I recorded this song with just an acoustic guitar and mic. Today I’ve uploaded a completely new version, using my current gear, to bring the song up to date with my latest work.
It starts out with a more complex bass line than I’d originally recorded, with a new shaker rhythm, and a synth pad that phases in and out to give it a mysterious feel. Then comes a chunky rhythm guitar sound and congas to give it a driving beat. And there’s a new synthesizer melody added to the chorus section.
In the original, I used the acoustic with a delay to add lead guitar to the spaces between vocal lines, and after each chorus I had a solo section. For the current version, I used my Fernandes sustainer electric guitar, with a bluesy, overdriven effect, and I cut out the solo sections. There are just the melody lines between the vocals, and a solo at the end.
The lyrics are the same, representing something of a mystical, primal journey through some sort of wilderness, leading to some sort of joining.
Hopefully you enjoy the updated version.
