Groove Expedition Title Badge Dominator

I’ve been focused on re-recording the older rock tracks for the “What We Were Missing” album, and that put the electronic music for “Mysterious Unions” on hold. After completing the revision of “Untangled from You,” I was feeling like I needed a break, so I hooked up the synthesizer and began to fool around.

The result was “Dominator,” which I’ve uploaded today. It’s the fastest tempo song on “Mysterious Unions” so far, meant for the middle section. The plan is still to have the tempos increase for the first half, then decrease again over the second half, to follow the pattern of a build-up, climax, and cool-down.

There are two recorded drum loops, with a main bass track defining the rhythm and a synth bass sound in a role somewhere between rhythm and melody. This heaviness, the drive of the main bass, and the theme of the album inspired the song’s name.

There’s also an underlying arpeggio throughout, and a couple sound effects thrown in during section changes. The lead is a heavily delayed guitar effect, played as improvs during the first couple sections, then with a defined melody during the final section.

I particularly like the way the song starts to really drive after the break, and I’m thinking that this track might end up as the centerpiece, with this section representing the climax. I’m still planning for three more tracks, so we’ll see what develops.
